Dover

Today we make our way to Dover arriving mid-afternoon. Check into our hotel -suffice it to say the only thing it has going for it is it’s location on the waterfront and the view of the Dover Castle on top of the cliff. We run into our old friend Barbara whom we met years ago on our cruise to Antarctica and is staying at the hotel as well.

Undaunted, we go on a walk about town and are pleasantly surprised. While there aren’t any “sights” other than the castle, this seaside town is quaint, historic and really pleasant. The White Cliffs are, well, white; the castle -the oldest castle in England- is huge and lords over the town. We settle on fish & chips for dinner and ice-cream along the waterfront.

Tomorrow we board Serenity. Can’t wait!
